Royal Academy of Punjab is the first not-for-profit arts academy in Canada to offer a formal Punjabi Folk Dance education. The Academy successfully uses the art form of bhangra as a creative outlet to promote skills, discipline and physical fitness along with providing team building and leadership initiatives for youth.
Our vision is to create a mastery of Punjabi Folk Arts in the Diaspora. Through collaborative and innovative partnerships, we look to make connections and create understanding within our community. In order to continue this mission, we are looking for a Punjabi Folk Musician Teacher to join our vibrant and dynamic team!
Punjabi Folk Musician Teacher
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team that is focused on the art form of bhangra. Royal Academy of Punjab is looking for someone to:
- participate in creating and executing the Academy’s vision and mandate
- work closely with the General Manager to strategize and formulate lesson plans for students
- develop specialized classes for students of all ages
- assist in developing and executing special events focused on Punjabi Folk Music
- teach students of all ages and skill levels
- manage a full classroom of children of all ages and skill levels
- prepare students for public performances and events
- promote the mission and values of Royal Academy of Punjab
- collaborate with community partners in creating innovative programs and events
- represent Royal Academy of Punjab in community events
Skills & Experience
Expert in the following folk instruments:
- Dhol
- Dholki
- Tumbhi
- Algozay
- Folk Vocals
- Minimum of 2 years' teaching experience
- Available immediately
- Strong communication skills
- Strong leader
- Fluent in Punjabi
- English an asset
