A Unique Canada Day Celebration of Sport, Culture, and Community

Celebrate Canada Day with an unforgettable experience that brings together the excitement of soccer, the energy of live dhol, and the vibrant traditions of Punjabi culture.

The Royal Academy of Punjab is proud to present Goals & Dhol Canada Day Edition 2026, a free community celebration designed to inspire participation, promote cultural understanding, and create meaningful connections among people of all ages and backgrounds.

Taking place at the Millennium Amphitheatre in Surrey, this dynamic event transforms Canada Day into an interactive experience where sport, music, dance, and community engagement come together in one exciting public gathering.

In partnership with RED FM and supported through the Government of Canada’s Celebrate Canada Program, Goals & Dhol reflects the diversity, creativity, and community spirit that define Canada.

Experience Goals & Dhol

At the heart of the celebration is our signature Goals & Dhol activation—a unique fusion of soccer and Punjabi cultural traditions. Participants can enjoy soccer challenges, dribbling competitions, family-friendly games, and interactive activities enhanced by the powerful rhythms of live dhol. This innovative program encourages teamwork, physical activity, and community participation while creating an energetic and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

Learn, Dance, and Celebrate

Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in free Punjabi folk arts workshops led by experienced instructors and cultural practitioners. These interactive sessions introduce participants to the movements, rhythms, and stories behind traditional forms including:

  • Bhangra
  • Giddha
  • Jhummar
  • Luddi
  • Sammi
  • Dhol Drumming

Whether you are trying these traditions for the first time or reconnecting with your cultural roots, everyone is welcome to join.

Live Performances and Community Activities

The event will feature cultural performances, youth showcases, live dhol presentations, community engagement activities, and family-friendly experiences designed to encourage participation and intercultural exchange. Local organizations, volunteers, community leaders, and cultural groups will come together to create a vibrant celebration that reflects the rich diversity of Surrey and the broader Canadian community.

Building Community Through Culture

Goals & Dhol is more than an event—it is an opportunity to bring people together through shared experiences. By combining sport, cultural learning, artistic expression, and community participation, the celebration creates spaces where families, youth, newcomers, Indigenous communities, and residents from diverse backgrounds can connect, learn from one another, and celebrate what makes Canada unique.
